Angiolina Park
The most famous park in Opatija
Not far from St. James` Park lies another beautiful oasis of relaxation that once formed a single unit with it. In Angiolina Park, one of the most awarded parks in Croatia, rich history can be felt at every step. More than 120 plant species preserve the memory of Opatija’s travelers who brought new plants from journeys around the world. Laurel forests, California cedar, giant sequoia, and ginkgo will impress you with their size and splendor, but you may be most enchanted by the rich camellia flower, the symbol of Opatija. Sit on a bench and enjoy the harmonious interplay of its red and white petals and the blue façade of the beautiful Villa Angiolina. At the very heart of the park is also the Swiss House, built for park workers and later turned into a hospitality venue during the tourism boom.
