Hotel Kvarner

The oldest hotel on the east coast of Adriatic

Between St. James` Park and Angiolina Park lies one of the most important sites for Croatian tourism. Along the seaside promenade stands Hotel Kvarner, the first hotel on the eastern Adriatic coast, built in 1884. Originally used as a health resort, it brought Opatija prestige and the title of Imperial climatic health resort, as well as flattering comparisons with Nice. Many famous personalities stayed in its elegant rooms, including the dancer Isadora Duncan, who resided in Villa Amalia, an annex of Hotel Kvarner. Later, one of its most beautiful features was added—the Crystal Hall, which today hosts numerous events and celebrations.
