Veprinac

a medieval town with a view of Kvarner Bay

On the slopes of Mount Učka lies Veprinac, a medieval settlement offering a perfect view of the entire Kvarner Bay. True to its name, derived from the evergreen shrub veprina, this small place is immersed in endless greenery and peace. Whether you arrive by car or via a scenic hiking trail, you’ll be welcomed at the entrance by town gates with three openings. Nearby, in the old municipal house called the komunšćica, there is an ethnographic collection showing how people of Opatija once lived. It’s also worth visiting the parish church of St. Mark, with its distinctive bell tower.
